This flexibility and the enormous number of mobile telephones world-wide makes mobile a natural platform for newspapers to reach audiences with better, more tailored content - and it holds great potential to produce revenues from both advertising and micro-payments.

A new report from the World Association of Newspapers' Shaping the Future of the Newspaper project, "Winning Mobile Strategies";, examines the most promising strategies for mobile development world-wide.

For mobile news delivery, the accent has long been on the word, "promising"; - with the exception of Japan and a few other markets, mobile still makes only a very small percentage of digital revenues. Nevertheless, it is growing rapidly and is likely to be a key platform for audiences in the very near future.

The SFN report looks into companies and markets where mobile is ready to explode.

The report provides an overview of the global telephone market, case studies into mobile marketing and advertising successes, interviews with the experts, an examination of mobile barcodes and other tagging technology, and a vast array of information on the opportunities available and how newspaper companies can develop their mobile platforms.
